Minimum Academic Degree

A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or equivalent qualification.

Yes. Both Preliminary and Main examinations have strict sectional timers (usually 20 minutes per section in Prelims). You cannot switch sections before the timer expires.

What is the negative marking penalty?

There is a penalty of 0.25 (1/4th of the marks assigned to that question) deducted for every wrong answer marked.

Do marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination count towards final merit?

No. The Preliminary Examination is strictly qualifying in nature to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. Final merit is determined on Mains + Interview scores.
